Millions of vacation destinations around the world pique the interest of families seeking a memorable getaway. Some destinations are designed for adventure and exploration, others for relaxation and reconnection. For the adventurous family seeking to please multiple travelers and their respective needs, the wild of Wyoming can be the perfect spot.
A family camping trip is among the most timeless and loved activities. It offers a chance to step away from the rest of the world, whether real or digital, and embrace nature’s beauty.
Glamping on the Greys team members each fell in love with nature at a young age and are devoted to sharing that love with you. We believe you find freedom in nature as you connect to the world around you and to your inner self. You also develop a deeper relationship with those who you are with as you navigate unique outdoor environments, challenges, and experiences.
The Glamping on the Greys property is roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes from Jackson Hole and 1 hour from the city of Alpine, Wyoming. The area is easily accessible for those flying or driving to the region while still being a secluded, intimate ranch.
Digital tools connect us in incredible ways, allowing us to remotely work and engage with people from around the world. Sometimes it can be important to disconnect, though, and flipping off the WiFi isn’t enough. Even digital tools like televisions, desktop computers, and household appliances can be distracting, especially for children.
Family vacations away from digital devices help families tap into a primal lifestyle in the natural world. They encourage families to focus on each other and the environment surrounding them.
While Glamping on the Greys does have WiFi, cell service is extremely limited. This allows parents to choose if WiFi is shared with the family or not. A digital detox can be a uniting experience for many families.
Regardless of where you go, traveling offers the exciting opportunity to explore a new place. There is adventure in the streets of a bustling city, the beaches outside a pristine resort, or even the buildings of a historic village. But we believe few experiences match the excitement of exploring an untouched frontier by exploring rivers, waterfalls, valleys and hills, and observing the unique sceneries, wildlife and foliage. A camping trip allows families to be curious, ask questions, venture off the beaten path, take a closer look at something new, and above all, have fun together.
Camping with the family is perfect for an active vacation! Horseback riding, hiking, biking, swimming, even just carrying equipment around can be a fun way to get exercise – especially with a few deviceless kids.
Many vacation locations offer educational opportunities like museums, food, and cultural activities. Camping vacations educate on nature and important skills for survival. In the wilderness, there is an opportunity to things like following a compass, building a fire, and cooking over an open flame. Learn how animals and bugs live in the wild, see how moss grows on trees, and watch how rivers change the land. Nature shares valuable information that kids will use throughout their lives.
The most important aspect of a family camping vacation is togetherness. Building a camping space, exploring, playing, and sharing stories with one another allows each member to grow closer and connect deeper. Our team loves watching families bond during their escape to the woods, and guests often tell us their families leave with a deeper connection than felt when they arrived.
Family camping trips are incredibly exciting and rewarding. They are not, however, always easy. Trekking into nature takes many steps, including extensive research and planning, purchasing and hauling equipment, and building and tearing down camping spaces. This is why many families are turning to all-inclusive camping vacations.
An all-inclusive retreat balances the joys of nature and camping with the convenience of a hotel. The Glamping on the Greys property is a seclusive space within a national forest, just steps from fresh rivers, winding hiking trails, and cozy campfires. The remote area allows visitors to gaze at millions of sparkling stars each night and enjoy the natural sounds of the mountains.
This is all available without sacrificing 21st-century amenities like a hot shower, comfortable above-ground beds, and expertly prepared meals. Glamping on the Greys is only about an hour from Alpine, Wyoming and an hour and a half from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Both are popular hubs for families visiting the state. Camp is nestled in a canyon between two mountains with natural boundaries surrounding the property.
Activities are endless for imaginative kids who want to roam and play, and they can do so safely. WiFi is also available for important moments when you need to connect to the outside world. Don’t worry, though, we won’t tell the kids the password without permission.
Moms love glamping for the excitement and convenience they find at Glamping on the Greys! They say the management of all meals, activities, and housing allows them to let down their guard and relax.
Imagine waking up to the sunrise as birds chirp and the creek babbles, smelling fresh coffee and breakfast on the stove. A meal specially crafted for you and your family that someone else made. No shopping lists, no trips to the grocery store, no cooking utensils or prepwork, and absolutely no cleanup. The perfect recipe for a relaxing vacation.
Glamping on the Greys offers six unique western-style glamping tents, each with multiple beds or cots, warm bedding and comfortable pillows. The tents are wooden structures with a small wood-burning stove and rugs to keep you warm. There are also lamps in the tent that easily flip on when the sun goes down so flashlights are unnecessary. The tents are surrounded by open spaces where kids often play and are near our firepit and the creek that runs through the property.
Families love the comfortable glamping tents, finding them far superior to the traditional sleeping-in-a-bag-on-the-ground camping experience. They often tell us that they sleep wonderfully during their stay, some better than they have in years.
Guests also tell us they love the ease of arriving to and leaving camp. Our tents are prepared beforehand so there is no need to bring extra equipment. When it is time to leave, there is no teardown, no coolers to dry out, and no sleeping bags or tents to store. It is a camping trip without the hassle of traditional camping chores and work.
All activities at Glamping on the Greys are included in the visit, so we encourage guests to take part in as much as possible! Many Wyoming natives love exploring the wilderness on horseback, and Glamping on the Greys proudly offers professionally guided trail rides for visitors. Our well-trained horses and expert handlers will work with riders of any skill level during an unforgettable trip. We also help facilitate outdoor adventures in the area like fishing, swimming, rafting, and hiking.
When families are on our property, they let their imaginations soar. Many engage in classic games like hide and seek or capture the flag. There is plenty of space for any outdoor activity, though, especially those that involve running, jumping, hiding, and laughter. Families also love our crystal-clear freshwater stream. Older kids love it for playing games, skipping rocks, and searching for small fish. Younger kids, even toddlers, love to dip their boots in and splash around. An amphitheater sits onsite for movies and events as well.
Wyoming is filled with beauty, inspiration, and discovery, drawing millions of visitors each year. It is the perfect place for families, and we are confident that you will create lasting connections and memories during a camping trip in our beautiful state.
