GLAMPING IN WYOMING

Wyoming is among the highest-ranked states in terms of beauty, adventure, and appreciation for nature. Its dramatic mountain ranges hold a seemingly endless amount of peaks, valleys, rivers, and lakes. Its picturesque countryside holds several of the most iconic national parks in the United States, including Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, as well as many animals, fish, and wildflowers. The Cowboy State continues to hold true to its western roots, as many who live here raise cattle, rodeo, swing dance, and travel on horseback. While Wyoming is a popular destination for tourism, much of the state remains untouched and unbothered by humans from the outside world. Experiencing the wonder of Wyoming is a truly unforgettable experience, one that many aim to relive as often as possible.

While the national park and forest protections allow the splendor of the countryside to remain intact, it does create unique challenges for visitors. Hotels are often built near the mountains, in areas accessible by roads, internet signals, and other more modern conveniences. Those who lodge in hotels are able to enjoy the forests, but only in small doses. They can’t venture too far into the mountains and still manage to return to their hotel at the end of the day.

Those wanting to travel deeper in the woods often camp! Campers typically sleep at designated areas in the state parks, but some choose to navigate independently and set up their own sites along the way. These campers often travel light, though, only able to carry what they can fit in a backpack. They use smaller tents, lightweight sleeping bags, and a very limited amount of cooking equipment and other important tools. Campers enjoy the spoils of being surrounded by nature but must forfeit many of the conveniences and comforts of home.

WHY GLAMPING IS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Glamping is arguably the most efficient overnight lodging option during a Wyoming trip. It is the perfect middle ground, especially all-inclusive glamping sites like Glamping on the Greys. Glamping allows campers to sleep in a comfortable bed, eat hot meals from an onsite kitchen, shower in more traditional bath houses, and have a dependable site to store their belongings during their trip. Most sites are in the woods, nestled between towering trees and restless wildlife and underneath endless stars. Glampers can easily trek onto a trail or into a stream or lake without hours of driving or packing up their gear. Their adventure awaits just steps from their comfortable front door.

GLAMPING GRAND TETONS

The majestic Grand Teton mountain range stretches far across the northern region of Wyoming. The area of the Rocky Mountains holds jagged peaks and breathtaking views. Outdoor enthusiasts flock to the Grand Tetons, hoping to reach its highest peak (sitting at a mere 13,775 feet) and experience the adventure along the way. Grand Teton National Park is rich in Native American history, with evidence of tribes living in the area thousands of years ago. Federal leaders established the park as a protected space at the turn of the 20th century, preserving its natural beauty, history, and opportunities for memorable outdoor adventures.

Glamping on the Grey sits within the Grand Tetons National Park. Our guests adore the woods in the area and happily take advantage of the many hikes, rides, and water activities nearby. Bailey Lake sits just about five miles from camp and is well-known for trout fishing and swimming. The Snake River is also close to camp and offers incredible opportunities for fly and traditional fishing. Guests also enjoy the Greenback Ridge Trail, a challenging but rewarding hike up the mountainside. Telephone Path and Elk Mountain trail hikes are also easily accessible from camp. For those who want to tap into their Western spirits, we offer group horseback riding experiences directly from our property. We will pair you with a highly experienced and well-trained horse to travel through the Grand Tetons, one of the best ways to experience the splendor of the forest and its offerings.

GLAMPING YELLOWSTONE

Yellowstone National Park is a remarkable place known around the world for its natural beauty, diverse wildlife, history, and unique geological features. The park sits on an underground magma chamber that heats the groundwater and creates hot springs and geysers above ground. Essentially, a volcano lies beneath the surface, heating water reservoirs spread in the park. This warm water sometimes causes steam or even spectacular eruptions (when enough pressure builds). Many of the park’s most famous landmarks draw millions of tourists each year, especially the renowned ‘Old Faithful’ geyser that blows hot water into the air periodically throughout the day. The hot springs also create colorful displays within the water, on the rocks, and in the air above the surface. This greatly contributes to the stunning scenes that trademark the park. Yellowstone Lake is also a popular site for tourists. It is the highest-elevation lake in North America, allowing visitors to fish, boat, and soak in incredible views. There is also a grand canyon in Yellowstone. The canyon is the product of the powerful Yellowstone River and holds two massive waterfalls. Yellowstone is one of the largest national parks in the United States, spilling into Montana and Idaho, but mostly within the border of our beautiful Wyoming.

Yellowstone is a truly incredible place, and we encourage all visitors to experience the grandiose park at least once in their lifetime. We do emphasize, though, Yellowstone is a popular tourist destination that draws massive crowds each summer. Expect long lines, heavy traffic, and busy hotels and campgrounds, especially near the largest attractions. Due to these crowds, we do not recommend staying within the boundaries of the park during the entirety of a Wyoming visit. The best way to experience Yellowstone’s wonders is by visiting the main attractions early in the day, exploring the lesser-known areas through the peak hours, then branching out to other areas of the state. Glamping on the Greys sits only about an hour from Yellowstone and enjoys many of the same outdoor activities and beauty. Our camp is ideal for visitors looking to explore Yellowstone but still enjoy the natural oasis in a more private setting.
